Group Tours

Join us as we walk along what once were woodland trails, rutted cart-tracks, and cobbled streets, mindful of the rutting deer, trundling wagons, and speeding surreys, as we meet the spirits of the past….

The Ithaca History Tours are the perfect way to introduce your group to the area. Choose between a personalized guided walking tour led by a trained guide, or an interactive tour with actors who pop out along the way to tell the stories of Ithaca’s past.

The Colorful Characters of Ithaca’s Past

The tour is a leisurely guided walking tour spanning approximately 60 minutes, featuring tales touching upon many important figures and events in the City’s history such as the Iroquois Settlement along Cayuga Lake, Cornell University history, silent movie stars, as well as tales from the ‘bad old days’ of fun and excitement in the City’s West End in the days of the Erie Canal and later. Tour goers will encounter historical characters and vignettes along the route.

The Dark Side of Ithaca

Inspired by the popular walking “ghost tours” which take place in Great Britain in nearly every town, village and city, The Mystery & Adventure Agency has developed its own unique haunted tour.  Join us as we explore some of the  more offbeat occurrences in Ithaca’s past. Step back in time and follow murderers, victims, and unlucky souls on their journey through the beyond.

*The tour is available as  either a guided historical walking tour, or as a complete tour featuring actors who appear along the way to  perform brief vignettes.
